SHELLEY ALLEN
I was always into fashion as a kid. I learned how to sew, I made my own clothes, and like most girls, I loved to shop! Fast forward to college, and I went to nursing school. I worked in the field for more than 15 years in New York and Connecticut. While working in New York, I went to FIT for classes and started a fashion consulting business. Then in Connecticut, I soon realized that it was missing the pulse of luxury fashion that I always loved about New York. I worked in my husbands medical practice, had my son, and dabbled in a jewelry and clothing business out of my basement. I always said if a space came available next to Richard Penna in Hamden that I would open up a shop and share what I missed most about New York, the shoes! In 2006 my son went off to college, and what do you know that space became available! There was a lot of competition for the space so I jumped in head first without knowing a thing and I guess the rest is history. I have been open for five years and have over 2000 amazing, loyal customers. I guess you could say Shoe and She is a unique boutique.
